Introduction to the Camps PRIMERA Negra Flamenco Guitar

The Camps PRIMERA Negra is a professional flamenco guitar that is part of the Camps flamencos series. It is designed to be light, with a punchy and responsive sound. The guitar is certified by musician Manuel Granados, ensuring it meets high standards before leaving the workshop. A guitar case is included with the purchase.

Materials and Sound Quality

The top of the guitar is made from solid spruce, a material known for its bright and clear sound, which is essential for the flamenco style. The back and sides are constructed from solid Indian rosewood, which is stiffer and denser than the woods typically used in the Blanca models, contributing to the guitar's greater projection and fuller sound. The ebony fingerboard and cedar neck are standard for high-quality guitars, offering durability and a comfortable playing experience.

Craftsmanship and Design

The construction process of the Camps PRIMERA Negra involves traditional Spanish luthiery techniques, which are crucial for achieving the desired sound quality and structural integrity. The guitar features a rosewood bridge, bone saddle, and does not include a truss rod but has a carbon rod for neck reinforcement. The gloss finish not only enhances the guitar's appearance but also provides protection for the wood.

Playability and Features

With a nut width of 52 mm and a scale length of 650 mm, the guitar is designed to accommodate the technical demands of flamenco playing. The distance between the 1st and 6th strings is 58 mm, allowing for precise finger placement. The body depth at the heel is 85 mm and at the bottom is 90 mm, which is typical for flamenco guitars and affects the resonance and projection of the instrument.

Additional Specifications

The Camps PRIMERA Negra is equipped with D'addario EJ-46 FF Carbon Dynacore strings, which are known for their bright tone and strong projection. The guitar also includes a pick guard to protect the finish from the aggressive strumming that is characteristic of flamenco playing. Although it does not have a truss rod, the carbon rod neck reinforcement ensures stability and resistance to warping.
